Who we are

Boroondara Kids are a team of adults and youth offering classes regularly to contribute to the wellbeing of all children.

We are passionate about supporting children to learn of ways in which they can contribute to the community through service. We volunteer our time and talents, and have working with children checks.  We always welcome parents who see value in this process to also take part.

Hello, I'm Afsoon, a jewellery designer from Boroondara for the past two decades. Alongside jewellery designer, I'm a proud parent of two children and a firm believer in nurturing vibrant communities.

Contributing to my community is deeply important to me. I love being involved with The Boroondara Kids initiative which really aims at uniting children from diverse backgrounds and focus on themes such as friendliness, kindness, respect, and courage to foster a sense of belonging and promote overall well-being.

I believe in the power of community and endeavor to create spaces where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and connected.

Hello, I’m Nicole, a local 25 year old who has always had a passion for finding ways to contribute to the local Boroondara Community. I currently work as a marketer in the education industry and run my own cake business on the side.

For several years I ran a Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program that aimed to provide a space for youth to come together to build their capacities to serve and explore how they can contribute to the development of their local community. In 2020 and 2021, the Junior Youth from this program collaborated with Boroondara kids and assisted with 2 school holiday programs, and the rest is history!

I have been fortunate enough to be assisting with the Boroondara Kids program since then and enjoy working with local children to explore ways in which they can made the world a better space.

Hello, I'm Aily, I’m 17 and currently in Year 12.  Alongside studying I do a lot of art and art related projects, I design artworks, lots of painting and lots of drawings. My interests extend to piano, music and poetry, composing verses in various languages due to being fluent in four, with a profound connection to emotions and their meanings.

Having traveled extensively, I've gained insights into diverse communities in places I have been, contributing to various community organisations.

I’m active in youth groups and spaces and I enjoy being a part of the Boroondara Kids Initiative, fostering mutual learning with kids.

Hello, I'm Zahra. i'm in Year 10 and have been in the Boroondara community for most of my life.

I love helping to work with the wonderful children of Boroondara as they grow into older kids and are learning more in-depth meanings to virtues.

One of the most important things is to be able to not only know virtues, but to also be able to express them in our daily lives.

I believe that in this space for the children, they learn to work together and form more trusting friendships through learning many themes like, reliability, respect, and purposefulness.

Hello, I'm Annette, an enthusiastic educator that has been offering neighbourhood education programs for over 20 years.

I have a passion to support the character development of children of all ages and backgrounds to see how they can contribute to building a better community. I am a trained early childhood and primary teacher, who also offers programs in parenting and careers guidance, relationship support, coaching and community development.  I am thrilled to support Boroondara Kids with their range of programs.
